5 Year Thank You Letter

We just recently celebrated 5 years in full-time ministry, and I wanted to say THANK YOU! This
would not have been possible without your prayers and support. Every Ministry Partner is
important to the ministry as well as to me personally. Your prayers, and your encouragement
keep me going, trying my best to fulfill what God has called me to do.

5 years ago, I would not have believed that I would be doing this. I knew God was telling me to,
but I fought Him for 7 weeks before I obeyed. I stood on the corner of Dobbs and College
audibly arguing with God that I wasn’t equipped. And if out of nowhere a young man on a
bicycle appeared and I shared the Gospel with him. I met with my mentor at The Foundry to tell
him that I felt that God was calling me to do this. I expected him to take me to BHC and have
me committed; he had to think I was crazy. Instead, he supported me fully.

Over those 7 weeks, God kept giving me opportunities to minister to people and share the Good
News with them. Even though I was able to take advantage of these opportunities and help
some people, I just couldn’t commit. I spoke with several people I trust and admire about this
calling, and they were very supportive, but I was full of fear. Fear of my knowledge and ability,
fear of rejection, and fear of raising financial support all consumed my days.

I met with my spiritual advisor and told him about the calling and the opportunities that I had
been given and the fact that I was able to take advantage of those opportunities. He listened
intently, then just simply said, “Eric, do you want the fleece wet or dry?” He just about had me to
the point that I was willing to surrender and obey, but for some reason, I was still looking for “a
way out.”

Lastly, I reached out to my 2 “moms’ to hopefully “talk some sense” into me. They met with me
on very short notice and not only encouraged me to obey the Lord, but they were unbelievably
excited for me. That was it-I surrendered and obeyed.
I still have some “alcoholic” tendencies. I don’t do a lot of things in moderation, so when I
committed, I was ALL IN. The success and growth of the ministry has very much been a “learn
as we go” experience, but I’ve been truly blessed with a great group of advisors and truly
spiritually fit people in my life, and a great Board of Directors and they all have been invaluable
on this journey.

So, THANK YOU for giving me this opportunity and for allowing me to live in a place of true joy.
THANK YOU for your prayers. THANK YOU for your encouragement. THANK YOU for your
financial support.

I ask that you continue to pray for the ministry, for me, and for those that I have encountered
and those that God will allow me to encounter in the future. I ask that your words of
encouragement continue. And I ask if you are able and feel led to do so, that you continue to
support the ministry financially.
