In the past 6 weeks, some amazing things have happened. We’ve assisted 4 people getting into permanent housing, 3 people into rehab facilities for drug and alcohol addiction, shared the Gospel with over 250 people, witnessing 32 people make Jesus Christ their Lord and Savior.
I’d like to share with you the story of a young man who is no longer homeless on the streets of Dallas. I met Tony, a young man I assumed to be in his early 20’s, on my first trip to Dallas and have seen him on every subsequent trip, less one. Tony is a very shy guy and never uttered too many words. Back in April he gave his life to Christ, and I had the privilege of baptizing him and 2 others in a park fountain on Ackard Street. He always tugged at my heart, but I could never get his full story out of him. On the second day of my last trip to Dallas, I ran into Tony; and it made my day. I told him the reason I was in Dallas that week was to get him off the streets. His face lit up and God truly took over. He began to tell me his story and it took everything in me to keep from crying. Tony wasn’t in his early 20’s; Tony is 17 years old and had been on the streets for close to 18 months. When he was 15, his parents put him out because he was gay.
After about 6 hours of phone calls, Tony was placed with a young couple from a local church. He has his own room; he’s being fed; he has clean clothes and a new church family. A couple of weeks ago, Tony began GED classes and is meeting regularly with a psychologist to help deal with the trauma he has undergone at such a young age.
These are just a few of the wonderful miracles I get to witness on what seems like a daily basis thanks to the prayers and financial support of people like you.
I ask that you keep this ministry and me personally in your prayers as we go out in accordance with Matthew 28:19.
Your Brother in Christ
Eric
